The NEED
West Bengal is a major source area for human trafficking in India. In cities like Kolkata, victims are trafficked through, into, and out of 22 red-light areas, including Sonagachi, where an estimated 10,000 women are trapped in exploitation. Most of them come from impoverished villages across West Bengal and neighboring regions.
Poverty, lack of education, and social exclusion leave women and children extremely vulnerable. Even after rescue, many return home only to be trafficked again. Traffickers prey on the marginalized and powerless, especially those without support or opportunity.
At Krupa Kendra, we work to break this cycle. Through education, vocational training, awareness programs, and moral support, we empower vulnerable women and children with dignity, hope, and the skills they need for a new life.
